Last Week: Randal Hutto, Wilson County - Mayor Elect
Mayor-Elect Hutto outlined his goals and identified a number of issues he planned to address as he assumed his new position. A primary goal is to provide the leadership required to make Wilson County the place to live, work and visit, insuring proper growth through planning and adequate infrastructure to minimize surprises. Other goals include: improve communications between his office and the county commissioners; increase usage of technology; publicize county commission meetings; and start a technical center to build additional skills for those who do not choose college. Among the issues he identified were: creating jobs, providing adequate fire protection for all citizens of Wilson County, and reducing expenses. The process starts with him getting to know where we are and where we are heading, selecting the right people for the right job and getting the most out of every minutes of every day. Mr. Hutto stressed that he will have an "open door policy" encouraging the citizens of Wilson County to let him know of their concerns. The audience was challenged by him to "leave your legacy in Wilson County for your children".
