On Sunday, 04-Dec-1921, the Rotary Club of Lebanon was born. On Wednesday, 28-December, three days after Christmas that same year, the club received its Charter from then-District Governor T. Graham Hall. Since that time our club has grown from its initial 24 members to more than 100 strong – and more importantly, has contributed substantively to many important projects and endeavors both locally within Lebanon / Wilson County and across the globe.
This year, we continue the tradition of the past 88 years – and will work hard to exemplify the Rotary mantra of “Service Above Self.” This year will, however, also include a renewed focus of working closely in conjunction with our sister clubs – especially the other three clubs that exist here in Wilson County to collectively focus our strength to accomplish objectives that none of us are able to manage independently.
Stephen R. Covey, acclaimed author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People has recently published a new work entitled The Speed of Trust. In this book, he describes the importance of building and maintaining trust to realize corporate goals and objectives.
I appreciate the trust that the Lebanon Rotary Club 3868 has placed in me – and I affirm to each of you (our members) that I also trust in you. Together, I am confident that we can and will achieve many noteworthy accomplishments this year – and further the objectives of both our local Club and Rotary International.
Respectfully submitted –
Paul C. Stumb
88th President
